How We Work
Health & Therapy
We prioritise promoting healthy lifestyles and informed health decisions, providing consistent medical care, and ensuring residents are aligned with local healthcare providers. All children have access to therapeutic services, with a collaborative multi-agency approach shaping therapeutic strategies and practices.
Personal Development
Personal development plans recognise the uniqueness of each child. We provide support for pursuing hobbies or pastimes that resonate with the individual. We commit to nurturing residents to achieve their full potential and actively engage with parents/guardians to boost self-confidence. We encourage young adults to be active decision-makers.
Trauma-Informed Care
Staff are trained to understand, recognise, and appropriately respond to trauma. All interactions aim to avoid re-traumatisation. The institution supports children affected by past traumas, guiding them through processes of loss, grief, acceptance, and attachment.
Therapeutic Framework Adoption
We employ the Safe Crisis Management framework. This approach enables our staff to identify and address potential crises by detecting shifts in a child’s behaviour early on, ensuring a proactive approach to care and support.
Personal Education Plan
Every resident has a Personal Education Plan (PEP) crafted based on individual skills and aspirations. We arrange access to mainstream schools and collaborate with other educational institutions, especially for children with Special Educational Needs.
Round-the-Clock Supervision
At Menorah Homes, we ensure 24/7 monitoring of the children to guarantee their safety and well-being. Our staffing measures are meticulously designed to oversee and cater to the needs of young individuals throughout the day and year.
Active Coordination by Key Workers
Our Key Workers play a pivotal role in organising visits, appointments, and coordinating with external stakeholders. Their active involvement ensures that everyone involved in a child’s care is consistently informed and aligned.
External Support Engagement
We understand that some situations call for specialised external intervention. Whether it’s for therapeutic reasons, family contact, or other aspects, we collaborate with external professionals to ensure positive outcomes for our young residents.
Support During External Engagements
Recognising that unfamiliar environments can be challenging, our staff offers support to young individuals during their external engagements, ensuring they feel comfortable and understood. All visits are arranged with consent.
Child-Centric Approach
Every child’s voice matters. Our approach ensures that children know their views and contributions are valued, fostering positive self-worth and active participation in their personal growth journey.
Dedicated Key Workers
Every child is paired with a Key Worker, a dedicated advocate who not only addresses their daily needs but also champions their long-term aspirations and emotional well-being.
Life Skills
We continuously teach essential life skills. Activities like cooking, shopping, gardening, and budgeting are incorporated. We also emphasise on leveraging community services.
Clear Communication Channels
Whether through advocacy services, care reviews, or informal discussions, we guarantee that every child has accessible avenues to communicate concerns, aspirations, and feedback. We have a listening ear for all concerns that may arise.
Night-time Safety Measures
Recognising the importance of safety during the more vulnerable nighttime hours, we employ a combination of care staff and electronic monitoring systems to ensure the well-being and security of our young residents.
Holistic Development Focus
Our team is committed to ensuring children have clear objectives to strive for, fostering a sense of purpose and achievement tailored to each individual’s needs and desires.
